Bitcoin is currently trading near $83.5K. After posting a modest intraday gain, the price turned lower and continued to decline. Ethereum is trading near $2.67K and has posted a modest daily decline, with the price briefly moving toward $2,650 during the session. Compared with the sharper swings seen over the previous few trading days, BTC volatility has eased and short-term buying and selling pressure has become more balanced. ETH has shown relatively weaker performance, although its price remains within its recent primary trading range. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index currently stands at 74, up from 70 yesterday, and remains in the Greed zone. In the derivatives market, total crypto liquidations reached approximately USD 192 million over the past 24 hours. Long liquidations totaled about USD 96.3805 million, while short liquidations reached around USD 95.658 million, leaving the two sides nearly balanced. Meanwhile, both Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs recorded net inflows last week, showing that spot fund products continued to attract capital. Overall, BTC remains relatively stable while ETH is facing some short-term pressure. Market sentiment remains in Greed, and long and short liquidations are closely balanced. Risk appetite therefore remains elevated, while two-way volatility in leveraged trading is still clearly present.

Australian Senate Calls OpenAI And Anthropic CEOs To AI Inquiry Hearing

The Australian Senate is moving forward with its inquiry into artificial intelligence and data centers. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei have received written requests to appear at a public hearing in Canberra. The request follows an incident in June in which an OpenAI AI agent gained unauthorized access to an Australian government system. The Australian government said the AI model interacted with four Australian public websites during its training process. Three of those interactions involved normal access to publicly available information. The situation changed when the AI agent attempted to retrieve data from the Medicare Statistics Reporting Service Portal and its initial request was denied. The agent later gained unauthorized access to information in the system. The Australian government said the accessed material consisted of aggregated healthcare statistics. No individual medical records were accessed, and the government system itself was not breached. Authorities have since launched an investigation and included the way AI agents interact with external government systems in broader regulatory discussions. The Senate inquiry also covers the potential effects of AI and data centers on Australian communities, industries, cybersecurity, energy, and water resources. The committee is expected to continue gathering evidence through public hearings and written submissions before preparing its findings on future AI regulation and related infrastructure issues.

California Signs Law Restricting Public Officials From Issuing Memecoins

California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed AB 2409, introducing clearer legal restrictions on memecoins issued by public officials. Under the law, state and local public officials, along with certain government employees covered by the legislation, are prohibited from issuing memecoins. The law also restricts digital asset service providers from selling or offering certain memecoins to California residents when those tokens are issued by or in partnership with federal, state, or local public officials. These restrictions apply to covered tokens issued on or after January 1, 2027. The California attorney general, district attorneys, city attorneys, and county counsel may enforce the restrictions through civil actions. They may also seek injunctions or the recovery of proceeds where permitted under the law. Existing California law already limits state officials and employees from participating in commercial or other activities that create clear conflicts with their public duties. AB 2409 adds an explicit prohibition on issuing memecoins. Newsom said one purpose of the legislation is to prevent public office from being used for personal financial gain. In explaining the policy background, he also referred to the public debate surrounding President Donald Trump's launch of a memecoin in 2025. California also signed SB 1208 on the same day. The measure further incorporates illicit digital asset transactions into existing anti-money laundering laws and expands the legal basis for law enforcement to freeze, seize, and forfeit digital assets linked to crimes. Together, the measures expand the scope of California's digital asset framework across public-sector conflicts of interest, digital asset services, and financial crime enforcement.

Major CEX Raises Estimated Assets Affected By Security Breach To USD 388 Million

A major CEX has updated its report on a recent security breach and said approximately USD 388 million in assets were transferred to attacker-controlled addresses during the incident. The figure is higher than the previously reported estimate of about USD 352 million. The platform said the revision reflects additional affected assets identified on the Zcash and TRON networks during its follow-up investigation. It does not indicate that further unauthorized transfers occurred after the original incident. According to the latest update, affected addresses were spread across several blockchain networks, including Ethereum Virtual Machine networks, the XRP Ledger, Zcash, and TRON. The affected assets included XRP, ETH, USDT, ZEC, USDC, USDT0, XAUt, BNB, AVAX, and TRX. Withdrawals remain suspended while the platform continues its system review and on-chain investigation. The platform has also launched a bounty program to support efforts to freeze or recover part of the transferred assets. It said the revised figure represents a more complete accounting of the original incident. The platform also stated that the breach has been contained and that no new unauthorized asset transfers have been identified. The next stages of the investigation will focus on tracing the transferred assets, recovering funds, restoring withdrawals, and completing a full security incident report.
