FameEX Futures Copy Trading FAQs: Copy Modes, Risk Settings, and Failed Copy Trades

2026-10-07 08:03:42

FameEX Futures Copy Trading allows you to choose a lead trader and automatically copy eligible futures trades based on your selected copy mode, allocated funds, and risk settings. Before you start, make sure you understand how copy modes, margin, leverage, take profit and stop loss, execution price differences, and failed copy trades work. Futures copy trading is a derivatives trading product. Leverage can amplify both profits and losses and may result in liquidation.

Q1: What Is FameEX Futures Copy Trading?

FameEX Futures Copy Trading is an automated trading feature that allows you to follow a lead trader and copy eligible trades based on your selected copy amount, copy mode, and risk settings. After you start copying, you can view your copy trading assets, current positions, position history, and profit-sharing records. You can also adjust your copy trading funds or stop copying a lead trader when needed.

For instructions on how to start copy trading, configure your settings, manage copied positions, and stop copying a lead trader, refer to the following guides:

Q2: Can the Same FameEX Account Be Used for Lead Trading and Copy Trading at the Same Time?

Currently, the same account cannot be used as both a lead trader and a copy trader at the same time. If your account is already set up as a lead trader, refer to the account status and available features shown on the Copy Trading page.

Q3: Why Is My Execution Price Different From the Lead Trader’s?

Once you start copy trading, orders are executed based on actual market conditions. Rapid price movements, changes in liquidity, order size, and execution conditions may cause your execution price to differ from the lead trader’s price. As a result, even when you copy the same trade, your entry price, exit price, and final return may not be exactly the same as the lead trader’s.

Q4: Why Did My Copy Trade Fail?

Not every trade opened by a lead trader is guaranteed to be copied successfully. Common reasons may include:

  • Insufficient available funds or margin for copy trading
  • The calculated order size does not meet the minimum trading requirement for the selected trading pair
  • Rapid market movements cause the actual execution conditions to fall outside the system’s copy trading requirements
  • Your selected trading pair, margin, leverage, or risk settings prevent the order from being copied
  • The trading pair or order is subject to platform risk control limits

If a copy trade fails, check your copy trading records and the failure reason shown on the page. You should also review your available balance, copy trading settings, and current positions. The specific reason and applicable restrictions are subject to the information displayed on the relevant page.

Q5: Why Does the Lead Trader Have a Position While I Do Not?

A lead trader opening a position does not mean that every follower will successfully open the same position. Your available funds, selected trading pairs, copy mode, margin mode, leverage, and position risk settings can all affect whether a trade is successfully copied. Market conditions and order execution can also affect the final position size. Check your [Copy Overview] and copy trading records regularly instead of relying only on the lead trader’s current positions to determine the status of your own trades.

Q6: What Happens When I Stop Copying a Lead Trader?

After you stop copying a lead trader, the system will no longer copy new trades opened by that trader. If stopping copy trading involves closing positions at market price, the actual execution price may differ from the price displayed when you submit the request. Real-time market movements and liquidity conditions can affect the final execution price. Review the page notice and your current positions carefully before confirming. Once the copy trading relationship ends, you can view the related records under [Copy History].

Q7: Does a Higher Historical Return Mean the Lead Trader Will Generate Higher Returns in the Future?

Not necessarily. The ROI, PnL, win rate, and other historical performance data shown on a lead trader’s profile only reflect past trading results over a specific period. They do not guarantee future performance or returns. Market conditions, trading strategies, leverage, and risk exposure can all change over time. When choosing a lead trader, do not rely on a single performance metric. Consider the trader’s overall historical performance and risk level together with your own risk tolerance.

Q8: Can FameEX Futures Copy Trading Guarantee Profits?

No. Futures copy trading does not eliminate the market risks associated with futures trading. Significant price movements, leverage, insufficient margin, changes in liquidity, and differences in order execution can all result in losses. In severe cases, your positions may be liquidated. A lead trader’s past performance does not guarantee future returns. Set up your copy trading funds, leverage, take-profit and stop-loss levels, and position risk according to your trading experience, financial situation, and risk tolerance. You should also continue monitoring your copied positions after you start copy trading.

Q9: Do I Need to Pay Profit Sharing When Copy Trading? How Is It Calculated?

When a follower earns a profit from copying a lead trader, a portion of the profit is paid to the lead trader based on the agreed profit-sharing rate. The following rules apply:

  • Profit Sharing = Profit From Follower × Profit-Sharing Rate
  • Profit From Follower = The total position PnL from all closed positions of the follower during the settlement period. Only positive values are included. Negative values are treated as 0, and open positions are excluded.
  • Position PnL = Closing PnL + Funding Fees − Opening and Closing Trading Fees
  • Profit-Sharing Rate: The rate is locked when the copy trading relationship is established. If the lead trader changes the profit-sharing rate later, the new rate applies only to new copy trading relationships. Existing relationships will continue using the rate locked when they were established. The change does not apply retroactively.
  • No Profit Sharing During Loss-Making Periods: If the total result for a settlement period is a loss, the profit share is 0. No negative profit-sharing amount will be generated, and previously paid profit shares will not be clawed back.
  • Pre-Deduction Rule: When a profitable position is closed, the system temporarily withholds the profit share based on the following formula: “Profit-Sharing Pre-Deduction = Position PnL × Profit-Sharing Rate”. No profit share is withheld from loss-making positions.

Q10: What Copy Trading Modes Are Available and How Do They Differ?

FameEX offers three copy trading modes. You can select a mode when you start copying a lead trader:

  • Smart Ratio: The copy amount is calculated as a percentage of the lead trader’s order amount. You can set the maximum copy amount, position take profit, position stop loss, and position risk (maximum margin ratio per order).
  • Fixed Amount: Each copy trade uses a fixed amount. You can set the amount per copy trade, maximum copy trading assets, position take profit, and position stop loss.
  • Multiplier: The copy amount is calculated by applying your selected multiplier to the lead trader’s order amount. You can set the copy multiplier per trade, maximum copy trading assets, position take profit, and position stop loss.

The available ranges and default values for each parameter are dynamically determined by the lead trader’s settings and the platform’s general parameter configuration. Please refer to the values displayed on the actual page.

Q11: Can I Manage My Copied Positions Manually?

Yes. Followers can manage their copied positions directly:

  • Manual Close: You can close a copied position at market price. You can enter the closing quantity, close a percentage of the position, or close the entire position.
  • Take Profit and Stop Loss: You can set take-profit and stop-loss conditions for an individual position or all positions.
  • Execution Priority: Your own take-profit or stop-loss settings and the lead trader’s closing signal may both apply to a copied position. Whichever is triggered first will be executed first.

Important Notes for Futures Copy Trading

  • Futures copy trading is a derivatives trading product. It does not provide principal protection or fixed returns.
  • Your actual execution price may differ from the lead trader’s price. As a result, your returns, losses, and liquidation risk may also differ.
  • Higher leverage increases the impact of price movements on your position and raises the risk of liquidation.
  • Some copy trades may fail when your available funds are insufficient. Check your available balance and failed copy trade records regularly.
  • Take-profit, stop-loss, and position risk settings can help manage risk. However, they do not guarantee execution at the expected price or prevent all losses.
