2023-04-04 10:57:35

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is swiftly becoming a crucial component of contemporary living, with its applications spanning various sectors such as healthcare, finance, and human resources. However, the global acceptance of AI differs significantly among countries, as illustrated by a recent survey of over 17,000 participants from 17 different nations. The study, conducted in partnership with the University of Queensland in Australia, included respondents from the United States, Japan, Australia, and several European, Nordic, and Asian countries, as well as the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa).

The findings show that developing countries, especially those within the BRICS group, demonstrate the highest engagement with AI. Among these countries, China is at the forefront, with 75% of its population utilizing AI at work. India trails closely at 66%, followed by Brazil with a 50% adoption rate. On the other hand, residents of developed countries seem more cautious about adopting AI technologies. Japan and Finland rank the lowest in terms of trust in AI systems, with only 23% of their populations expressing confidence. In the United States, 40% of respondents trust AI; however, a mere 24% are willing to use it.

The research explored the application and acceptance of AI in various professional domains like medicine, finance, and human resources, as well as its involvement in everyday activities. Notably, AI has recently become a global technological fascination, reaching an all-time high in Google search queries. This growing interest is mainly attributed to significant progress in several key areas, such as text-to-image generation, sophisticated language learning models, and platforms enabling the use of such technologies in daily life. Innovative platforms like ChatGPT, Midjourney, Bing, and Lensa exemplify this progress. As AI continues to evolve, it is expected to become increasingly ingrained in our daily routines. The diverse levels of adoption and trust in AI among countries emphasize the need to appreciate cultural and societal viewpoints to enable more effective global AI implementation.

To sum up, the study carried out in collaboration with the University of Queensland underscores the varying attitudes towards AI adoption across nations. Developing countries, particularly those in the BRICS group, display higher engagement with AI, whereas individuals in developed countries demonstrate greater skepticism. As AI technology progresses and becomes more widespread, addressing these different perspectives and cultivating trust in AI will be vital for its successful integration into our worldwide community. By comprehending these diverse attitudes, stakeholders can make well-informed decisions and devise customized strategies to encourage AI adoption and acceptance globally.
