FameEX Hot Topics | On-Chain Volume Points to $130K–$135K Bitcoin Target This Summer
2025-06-20 07:12:05Bitcoin’s recent sideways price movement hides a bullish undercurrent signaled by the on-balance volume (OBV) indicator. Since early May, BTC has been trading between $102,000 and $112,000, yet its OBV has continued to rise. According to market analyst Cas Abbé, this divergence between price and volume suggests growing buying pressure beneath the surface. He anticipates that this trend could lift Bitcoin’s price toward the $130,000–$135,000 range by the third quarter of 2025.
OBV is a technical tool that measures cumulative trading volume to identify whether buyers or sellers dominate the market. It increases on days when prices close higher and decreases on down days. A rising OBV during a period of price consolidation typically indicates accumulation, as buyers quietly gain control. In Bitcoin’s case, the OBV has made consistent higher highs even as prices remain trapped in a narrow range, highlighting stealth accumulation.
Historical behavior reinforces this signal. In March and April 2025, Bitcoin moved sideways between $76,000 and $84,000, while its OBV steadily climbed. This divergence led to a 57% rally, with BTC breaking above $110,000 by May. Cas Abbé believes the current pattern mirrors that setup, suggesting another breakout could be imminent if volume trends continue to diverge from price.
Adding to this bullish outlook is a developing bull flag pattern on Bitcoin’s daily chart. The sharp rally from $93,670 to nearly $112,000 in May forms the flagpole, while the current consolidation phase creates the flag. This classic continuation pattern often signals that a new upward move is approaching. If this plays out, the technical target for a breakout aligns closely with Abbé’s forecast of $130,000–$135,000.
Other prominent analysts support this optimistic scenario. Mike Novogratz, founder of Galaxy Digital, sees Bitcoin reaching $130,000–$150,000 by year-end, driven by institutional inflows and a weakening U.S. dollar. Meanwhile, analysts such as Stockmoney Lizards are even more bullish, projecting BTC could hit $200,000 by the end of 2025. With OBV pointing to accumulation and bullish technical patterns forming, Bitcoin appears poised for a potential breakout in the months ahead.
